LIV Golf’s Ian Poulter won’t be playing in the Asian Tour’s International Series England event this week due to an injury.
The Majesticks co-captain was set to compete at Foxhills Country Club, his second home appearance in a month, but an ankle issue has forced him to withdraw.
Poulter had finished T27 at LIV Golf UK recently and was looking forward to another event on home soil.
Injury and Withdrawal
After watching Tommy Fleetwood win silver for Team GB, Poulter shared some less cheerful news. He posted on social media that he had to pull out from the tournament because of an ankle injury that flared up again. “Unfortunately, I’ve been forced to withdraw from this week’s International Series event at Fox Hills Country Club,” he said. “An ankle injury I had earlier in the season has reappeared and after consultation with my team, I’ve been advised on resting it in order to reduce the inflammation.”
Fans might feel disappointed about not seeing one of their favorite English golfers play.
Despite not competing, Poulter plans to attend the event over the weekend. His statement continued: “There is nothing better than playing in front of home fans and I’m gutted to miss out on another opportunity after a fantastic week at LIV Golf UK.” He added that he hopes to meet some fans there and wished everyone involved a great week.
Other Competitors
Michael Block and Sam Horsfield are among other notable players confirmed for the tournament. However, Lee Westwood and Henrik Stenson won’t be participating this time around.
Jason Kokrak, now part of Smash GC, will also be competing along with other star LIV golfers like Richard Bland and Graeme McDowell. The list includes John Catlin, Eugenio Chacarra, Branden Grace, Anirban Lahiri, Thomas Pieters, Kalle Samooja, Caleb Surratt, Harold Varner III, Scott Vincent, and Kieran Vincent.
