Historic Records Shattered at Presidents Cup

The Presidents Cup on Friday was full of surprises.

After the US team’s 5-0 win in the first session, the International team needed a big comeback. With three early wins and two more victories, they managed to tie the score at 5-5 by the end of the day.

Sungjae Im and Hideki Matsuyama were unstoppable, defeating Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele 7&6. They won seven holes in a row, finishing on the 12th hole with a record-tying victory margin.

Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith also shined with a 5&4 win over Sahith Theegala and Collin Morikawa. This win gave Scott his 22nd point in the competition, making him the top points scorer for the International team.

Historic Records:

The day was historic as it marked the first time in Presidents Cup, Ryder Cup, and Solheim Cup history that back-to-back sessions ended in clean sweeps. In previous tournaments, only four matches had been won by margins of 5&4 or greater; on this Friday alone, three such victories occurred.

Fans might think this comeback is just what makes sports thrilling !

Heading into Saturday’s sessions, both teams are tied at 5-5. The morning will feature four matches of fourballs followed by four foursomes matches in the afternoon. Sunday will see all players competing in singles matches.
