Golf Influencers Join Asian Tour

Three popular golf content creators are set to play in two International Series tournaments on the Asian Tour this month.

Luke Kwon, Mac Boucher, and Tae-Wook Koh (also known as Taco Golf) will participate in either the Black Mountain Championship at Black Mountain Golf Club from October 17-20 or the International Series Thailand event at Thai Country Club in Bangkok the following week.

These events will feature big names like Paul Casey from Crushers GC, John Catlin who leads the Asian Tour Order of Merit, and his closest competitor Ben Campbell.

Kwon and Taco Golf will compete in the Black Mountain Championship, while Boucher is scheduled for the International Series Thailand a few days later. Cho Minn Thant, commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour said: “This approach highlights our innovative approach at the Asian Tour in our rapidly evolving world where content consumption is often down to the individual.”

Inviting Influencers:

The decision to invite these three golfers aims to grow both the game and audience by leveraging their influence. Kwon has over 290,000 YouTube subscribers and 240,000 Instagram followers. He won the PGA Tour’s inaugural Creator Classic at East Lake before the Tour Championship last August. Fans might think this could bring a fresh vibe to traditional tournaments.

Koh from New Zealand boasts more than 250,000 followers across various platforms. He was also New Zealand PGA Champion in 2021. On another note, Canada’s Boucher is famous for his trick shots but ended up 15th out of 16 golfers at the Creator Classic after an unusual mishap with his driver.

Boucher shared his excitement about participating: “This will be one of the coolest experiences of my golf career, teeing it up alongside some of the world’s best.”

The back-to-back Thai events mark an intense stretch of six tournaments over eight weeks that will determine which golfer tops the International Series standings and earns a spot in the LIV Golf League.

Meanwhile, Justin Rose and Tom Kim have been confirmed for November’s Hong Kong Open – another key event on this year’s calendar. Rose reminisced about his previous win there: “Hong Kong holds a special place in my heart… I’ve had some great form this year and can’t wait to return.”
