Pro golfer Ollie Schniederjans is making a bold career move in 2025, leaving the Korn Ferry Tour to become a LIV Golf reserve player and compete on the Asian Tour.
The 31-year-old shared his excitement on social media: “Gearing up for 2025 and excited for the great opportunity to be a LIV Golf reserve player and to play the Asian Tour international series this year!”
If you’ve ever watched Schniederjans play, you might’ve noticed something unusual – he never wears a hat on the course. But that’s not what first put him in the spotlight.
Back in 2015, he turned heads with an impressive 12th-place finish at The Open while still an amateur. The Georgia Tech grad seemed destined for big things.
He got his first taste of the PGA Tour from 2017 to 2019. But pro golf can be brutal – after finishing outside the top 150 in the FedEx Cup standings, he had to drop back down to the developmental Korn Ferry Tour.
Things haven’t quite clicked since then. In 2024, he finished way back in 100th place on the Korn Ferry Tour, well short of earning his PGA Tour card.
But December brought a new opportunity. Schniederjans competed in the LIV Golf Promotions event, where a full contract was up for grabs. He made it to the final round and finished fourth, just five shots behind winner Chieh-po Lee.
That near-miss might’ve actually opened some doors. Just look at Ben Campbell – he started as a LIV Golf reserve player and parlayed that into a full-time spot with Bubba Watson’s Range Goats GC team for 2025.
Schniederjans’ only pro win came at the 2016 Air Capital Classic, but this career shift could change everything. As a reserve player, he’ll get chances to compete in LIV events while also playing the Asian Tour’s International Series.
The goal is clear: follow Campbell’s path and turn this reserve spot into a full-time LIV Golf contract for 2026. It’s a gamble, walking away from the traditional path to the PGA Tour, but sometimes the biggest risks bring the biggest rewards.
