Father-Daughter Duo Makes Pro Tour History

History will be made at the Webex Players Series Victoria tournament as Peter Wilson and his daughter Chloe become the first father-daughter duo to compete against each other in a professional golf event.

And they won’t just be playing in the same tournament – they’re actually paired together for their 1:35 PM tee time at Rosebud Country Club.

“It’s going to be fun,” Peter told the WPGA Tour of Australasia. “I’ve never competed against my daughter before in a pro event so there’s a first time for everything in this game.”

But there’s a catch – Peter can’t give Chloe any advice during play, something he’s used to doing when they practice together.

“I don’t want her to beat me!” he admitted with a laugh. “It’s tricky because we always play together and I’m usually advising her on shots. But this week I can’t because we’re opponents. I could get a two-shot penalty just for telling her to hit left or right.”

Peter’s no stranger to big moments in golf. He’s won multiple times on various tours and did something pretty incredible last March – shooting back-to-back 59s at Lang Lang Golf Club. He even played alongside Adam Scott in the 2015 Australian Masters.

But Chloe’s story is just beginning. She only picked up golf in 2020 and turned pro just last week.

“I’m excited,” Chloe said. “It’s not like something everybody gets to do, playing a professional tournament with their dad and competing against each other. I’ll just enjoy it and try to beat him.”

She admits the first tee shot might be nerve-wracking. “But once that’s done, you kind of relax and think, okay, I can just play golf now.”

The Victoria tournament is special because it lets men and women compete for the same trophy and prize money on the same course. It’s part of a five-tournament Webex Players Series that brings male and female pros together.

While father-son pairings have happened before in pro golf – like Jay and Bill Haas at the 2022 Zurich Classic – this father-daughter matchup is breaking new ground.

The Wilsons aren’t strangers to working together on the course. Chloe previously caddied for her dad at the 2018 ISPS Handa New Zealand Golf Open. But this time, they’re competitors – and only one can come out on top.
