In 2024, the Amundi Evian Championship will offer a record-breaking prize pool.
This year, Celine Boutier made history as the first French woman to win her home tournament, with a total payout of $6.5 million. Next year, the prize money will increase to $8 million, with $1.2 million going to the winner.
Less than five years ago, Jin-young Ko won with a total purse of just $4.1 million and took home $615,000.
The Evian Championship has come a long way since it became a Major in 2013 when Suzann Pettersen won against Lydia Ko and received part of a $3.25 million purse. Franck Riboud mentioned that this significant increase is "a beautiful symbol for the tournament’s 30th anniversary."
Fans might think this boost in prize money shows how much women’s golf has grown recently.
