After the 2023 DP World Tour Championship, ten players received PGA Tour cards for the next year.
As the PGA Tour season nears its end with the Wyndham Championship, it’s time to see how these new players have done.
One player, Adrian Meronk, didn’t play on the PGA Tour. Instead, he joined LIV Golf and got suspended from the PGA Tour.
Matthieu Pavon started strong with a T7 at the Sony Open in Hawaii and won the Farmers Insurance Open two tournaments later. He also finished third at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, securing his place in next year’s signature events by staying in the top 50 of the FedEx Cup standings.
Robert MacIntyre took longer to adjust but eventually found his stride with wins at both the RBC Canadian Open and Genesis Scottish Open. Fans might think he’s finally showing his true potential. Now he’s comfortably in next year’s top events too.
Victor Perez began well with a win at Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship but hasn’t won this season yet. He finished third at both Puerto Rico Open and RBC Canadian Open and is just outside making it to FedEx Cup Playoffs. He hopes to change that at Wyndham Championship.
Sami Valimaki had a runner-up finish at Mexico Open but struggled otherwise, sitting 94th in FedEx Cup standings. He’s given up on making playoffs as he’s not playing this week.
Ryan Fox had mixed results: T4 at Myrtle Beach Classic and T7 at RBC Canadian Open helped him stay inside top 125 of FedEx Cup standings despite six missed cuts. With 500 points available for a win this week, he still aims for playoffs.
Ryo Hisatsune is looking for his first top 10 finish this season while sitting 107th in FedEx Cup standings. He wants to secure a playoff spot or finish strong this week.
Jorge Campillo, Thorbjorn Olesen, and Alexander Bjork are all below top 125 in standings and risk losing full playing privileges after one season. Bjork isn’t competing this week; however, Campillo and Olesen have chances to improve their rankings in North Carolina.
Campillo hopes to replicate his T4 performance from Myrtle Beach Classic while Olesen seeks his first top 10 finish on PGA Tour despite winning Ras Al Khaimah Championship earlier this year on DP World Tour.
