Bryson DeChambeau believes Tiger Woods still has a lot to give in Major tournaments.
Despite recent struggles and calls for retirement, Woods remains determined. Colin Montgomerie suggested he should retire before the Open at Royal Troon, but Woods responded sharply: “As a past champion, I’m exempt until I’m 60. Colin’s not. He’s not a past champion, so he’s not exempt. So he doesn’t get the opportunity to make that decision. I do.”
Woods missed the cut for the third time in a row at a Major event , with his best result this year being 60th at The Masters.
Tiger’s Future in Majors:
Woods’ limited appearances might change by 2025 due to a new exemption category allowing him to play in all PGA Tour’s signature events. However, many speculate his era of winning Majors could be over.
DeChambeau disagrees and supports Woods’ choice to keep playing as many Majors as possible. He said: “He’s probably the most influential figure in golf right now… He deserves to play in the Majors.”
Fans might think it’s inspiring how DeChambeau backs Tiger despite his recent form.
DeChambeau even believes Woods can win another Major: “He wants to win… I think he can do it still… He’s got that grit and fire.”
Woods himself hasn’t given up hope either. On the Today Show with Carson Daly earlier this year, he talked about his Sun Day Red apparel brand logo having 15 stripes for each of his Major wins but added: “My goal is to ruin this logo… I want to keep ruining it.”
After missing out at Royal Troon, Woods expressed optimism about improving next year: “I’ve gotten better physically… I just need to keep progressing and start playing more competitively again.”
So what do you think? Can Tiger make another comeback?
