Golf is full of surprises, and the Aramco Team Series in Shenzhen delivered a big one with two hole-in-ones on the same hole by back-to-back groups.
On Saturday, Gabriella Cowley, Laura Fuenfstueck, and Emma Grechi began their game at 10:10 AM from the 10th hole. Just twelve minutes later, Diksha Dagar, Moa Folke, and Xinyu Cao teed off from the same spot. As they approached their 17th hole of the day, something extraordinary happened at Mission Hills.
Grechi made an ace on the par 3 eighth hole from 126 yards using a 9-iron. This was not shown on TV but quickly became known. Only ten minutes after Grechi’s amazing shot, Folke followed with her own hole-in-one using a pitching wedge. Fans might think this kind of coincidence is almost magical!
Unbelievable Back-to-Back Aces
Folke’s ace helped her climb to five-under for the tournament and tied for 23rd place heading into Sunday’s final round. Meanwhile, Grechi ended up four-over-par, missing the cut by two strokes.
The team event wrapped up on Saturday as well. Chiara Tamburlini’s team snagged victory by just one stroke after she birdied the last hole to win over Celine Boutier’s group.
Interestingly enough, such back-to-back aces aren’t unheard of this year; Frank Bensel Jr achieved consecutive holes-in-one during the US Senior Open! The odds are said to be 67 million to one—a rare feat indeed.
Both Grechi and Folke are still looking for their first wins on the Ladies European Tour. What do you think about these incredible shots?
