After a 5-0 win in the four-balls on Thursday, it looked like the Presidents Cup was already decided with the US team heading for their 10th straight title.
But on Friday, Mike Weir’s International team came out strong and won all their matches, tying the score at 5-5.
US captain Jim Furyk noticed a big change in atmosphere, saying: "The crowds weren’t nearly as big yesterday as they were today. Yesterday we had the momentum, so the crowds that were here we were able to silence a little bit."
Furyk added that today was different with more people and louder cheers for the Internationals. He said, "My hat’s off to them. Those guys played really well. For alternate shot, there was a lot of birdies made and a lot of guys that were well under par."
Saturday’s High Stakes:
With 20 points still available, Saturday will be crucial with eight points up for grabs. It’s a chance for either team to gain an edge before Sunday singles.
Furyk has experience from captaining at the Ryder Cup and knows how to handle unexpected results. He mentioned: "I said yesterday in some interviews, their (International team) backs against the wall. They’re going to come out firing. Well, I’m sure my guys are a little p****d off right now back there in the team room."
Fans might think this twist makes things way more exciting!
He continued by saying they need to come out strong tomorrow despite facing another loud crowd. Furyk noted he preferred seeing more red on the board than gold but believes his leaders will step up tonight and motivate the team.
What do you think? Will Saturday bring another surprise?
