Sometimes, even golf pros get frustrated on the course.
Cameron Young was close to winning at the Rocket Mortgage Classic but had a tough time.
In Detroit, he was just one stroke behind as he played the back nine. But then, on the 14th hole, he hit his tee shot left and broke his driver in frustration .
Driver Drama:
Young is known for his long drives, averaging 306.6 yards. His caddie confirmed that the driver was broken and couldn’t be used anymore. Despite this setback, Young managed to hit his 3-wood pretty far—303 yards on the 16th hole and 287 yards on the 17th—but missing a short bogey putt on the 16th hurt his chances.
Fans might think it’s tough luck for Young to lose his main club at such a crucial moment.
According to Rule 4.1: “A player is allowed to keep using and/or repair any club damaged during the round, no matter what the damage and even if the player damaged it in anger.” However, replacing it isn’t allowed unless it’s broken by an outside force or someone else.

With Sunday being tournament day, getting an identical replacement shaft would have been nearly impossible since Tour trucks had already moved on from Detroit.
