The LPGA Tour’s second-to-last event in November is set to dazzle with star power.
Caitlin Clark, the basketball phenomenon, will join Annika Sorenstam at the pro-am for the Annika Driven by Gainbridge at Pelican. This exciting duo will play together on Wednesday, and also engage in a fireside chat at the Women’s Leadership Summit on Tuesday, November 12th. This event is part of Parity Week, celebrating women through sports and education grants.
Clark shared her excitement by saying, “I love golf so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam’s name on it is so exciting.” She praised Gainbridge for supporting women’s sports through their commitment to this event and other initiatives like Parity Week. Fans might think it’s cool seeing such big names from different sports come together.
Basketball Star Meets Golf Legend:
Caitlin Clark has been making waves not just on the basketball court but now also on the golf course. Known for her incredible scoring skills with Iowa Hawkeyes, she became NCAA Division I’s all-time leading scorer. Recently drafted first overall by Indiana Fever in 2024 WNBA draft, she was named Rookie of the Year.
After Indiana Fever’s season ended with an 87–81 loss against Connecticut Sun in September, Clark mentioned wanting to spend more time golfing during her break. She joked about becoming a professional golfer until it gets too cold in Indiana.
The Annika Driven by Gainbridge tournament kicks off on November 14th at Pelican Golf Club in Florida with a prize pool of $3.25 million. What do you think about athletes crossing over into different sports?
