Bubba Watson Urges Major Championships To Include 15 LIV Golfers

LIV Golf players are pushing for a clearer path to golf’s biggest tournaments, and two-time Masters champ Bubba Watson isn’t shy about what he thinks needs to happen.

“Any chance we have to get all of us playing together again in the Majors, it’s always a good thing,” Watson said at LIV Golf Singapore.

He’s got a simple solution in mind: Take the top 15 players from LIV’s money list and give them automatic spots in all four Majors.

The debate over how LIV players should qualify for golf’s biggest events has been heating up lately. While The Open and US Open have created new qualifying routes, The Masters and PGA Championship are only offering a handful of special invites.

That’s not enough, according to Watson.

“The Majors realize that for that one week they have an event, they need us to join in there,” he said. “Not just for media attention, but to show how good LIV is and what team sport is all about.”

He’s not alone in pushing for change. Kevin Na, who captains the IronHeads team, is pretty confident things will work out for LIV players.

“It just has to happen because there are too many good players out here,” Na told Golf Monthly. “Eventually, we’ll have a clear pathway straight to the Major championships.”

Rising star Joaquin Niemann, who recently scored a coveted 2025 Masters invitation, thinks the top 10 LIV players should get automatic spots.

“If you’re winning tournaments then you have a chance to win Majors,” the Chilean star explained. “The most consistent players during the year should have the chance to play all the Majors next season.”

Not everyone’s on board with making it easier for LIV players to return to golf’s biggest stages. Golf analyst Brandel Chamblee warned it would “cause uproar on the PGA Tour” if LIV golfers got direct access to signature events.

But Watson isn’t backing down. “I’ve said it since day one,” he insisted. “LIV is here to stay, and it’s only getting better.”
