Bubba Watson has joined the broadcast team for “The Match” happening at Breakers West Country Club in West Palm Beach.
This event, called ‘The Match: Superstars’, will feature famous faces from sports and entertainment competing over two days on November 21 and 22. You can catch it live on TNT Sports or stream it on HBO Max. Watson, who was last seen doing commentary during his injury-riddled season with LIV Golf in 2022, will be working alongside Ernie Johnson, Kathryn Tappen, Trevor Immelman, and Charles Barkley.
Watson and Tappen plan to engage in walk-and-talks with players while sharing their insights. Meanwhile, Barkley not only plays but also contributes to the event for the ninth time since its inception.
Fans might think this lineup is pretty exciting! The rest of the eight-man field includes Bill Murray, Mark Wahlberg, Wayne Gretzky, Michael Phelps, Nate Bargatze, Ken Griffey Jr., and Blake Griffin. They’re all vying for a $1 million prize.
Event Details:
The competition kicks off with quarter-final matches featuring two-versus-two scramble play. Winners advance to semi-finals and finals where individual match play takes over. Teams are set as follows: Bill Murray pairs with Wayne Gretzky against Charles Barkley and Ken Griffey Jr., while Mark Wahlberg teams up with Michael Phelps to face Nate Bargatze and Blake Griffin.
TNT Sports promises an enhanced experience using Cart Cam and drone cameras to capture every moment of action. Participants will be mic’d up throughout to ensure fans don’t miss any banter or strategy talk.
“The Match” aims to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts across the US. It’s different from “The Showdown,” another TV event featuring a clash between LIV Golf League stars Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka against PGA Tour’s Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy scheduled for December 17 at Shadow Creek in Las Vegas.
