Golf superstar Bryson DeChambeau is heading to India for the first time, giving the country’s growing golf scene a massive boost.
The big-hitting American will tee it up at the International Series India from January 30 to February 2, 2025, at DLF Golf and Country Club.
It’s a pretty big deal – DeChambeau will be the first reigning men’s Major champion ever to play in a tournament in India.
The 2024 U.S. Open champ’s decision to play wasn’t totally out of the blue. His LIV Golf teammate and good friend Anirban Lahiri, one of India’s most successful golfers, had been trying to convince him to make the trip.
“I will support him fully,” DeChambeau told The Hindustan Times back in October. “I’ve never been there, but it’s a country that’s always fascinated me.”
For Lahiri, getting DeChambeau to India is like a dream come true. “It will be massive for Indian golf fans,” he said, barely containing his excitement.
DeChambeau’s not just any golfer – he’s one of the most talked-about players in the sport. Known for his scientific approach and incredible power off the tee, he’s sure to draw huge crowds in New Delhi.
The tournament kicks off what’s going to be a busy year for the International Series. It’s the first of 10 events planned for 2025, with the series finale set for Saudi Arabia.
There’s a lot at stake in these tournaments. The overall series winner gets a golden ticket – a spot in the lucrative LIV Golf league for the following season.
For Indian golf fans, though, it’s all about seeing one of the sport’s biggest stars up close. DeChambeau’s presence shows just how far golf in India has come – and where it might be heading.
