Bryson DeChambeau is at it again, showing off mysterious new prototype irons at the International Series India. The former US Open champ, known for his scientific approach to golf, has been spotted testing clubs from LA Golf – a company he helped start.
These aren’t just any irons. They’re decked out with strips of lead tape, something that’s become a DeChambeau trademark over the years.
It’s the second time in recent months he’s turned heads with new equipment. Just weeks ago, he gave golf fans a sneak peek at a never-before-seen driver.
The details of these new irons are still under wraps, but they’re creating quite a buzz in the golf world.
Last year at The Masters, DeChambeau made waves when he showed up with some pretty unique irons from Avoda Golf. Those clubs had a special “face bulging” design that helped him hit straighter shots, even on off-center hits.
“It’s just a speed thing,” he explained at the time. “When I hit it on the toe or heel a little bit, it just seems to fly a lot straighter.”
That technology helped him grab his second US Open title last June.
But now it looks like “The Scientist” might be ready for something new.
The prototype irons spotted in India feature his “BD” logo and LA Golf branding. While he had them in his bag at DLF Golf and Country Club, it’s not clear if he actually used them during play – he stuck with his Avoda irons during Wednesday’s pro-am.
One thing’s almost certain: these new clubs probably follow DeChambeau’s famous “one-length” setup, where all his irons are the same length. He’s been using that unusual style for years.
The most noticeable feature? These prototypes have super-long blade lengths and some interesting weight ports in the toe area. Even with those ports, DeChambeau still needed to add his signature lead tape for extra weight.
Could these new irons be the next big thing in golf tech? With DeChambeau’s track record of pushing equipment boundaries, they’re definitely worth keeping an eye on.
