Bryson DeChambeau’s journey in the Open Championship began with a whirlwind.
After winning his first PGA Tour title, he flew overnight to join the 2017 championship. He clinched the John Deere Classic by one stroke, earning his spot at Royal Birkdale.
That year, he missed the cut but later managed a top-10 finish among five more starts. His best performance was at St Andrews in 2022, where he tied for 8th place with a score of 12-under-par.
DeChambeau’s Open Performance
In six appearances at golf’s oldest Major, DeChambeau has had mixed results: one top-10 finish and two missed cuts. Other finishes include T51, T33, and T60. Despite these ups and downs, he’s still seen as a strong contender for the Claret Jug at Royal Troon this year.
Fans might think it’s exciting to see him as one of the favorites again.
Currently ranked third behind Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy for this year’s tournament, DeChambeau recently won his second US Open at Pinehurst. This victory followed his runner-up finish at the PGA Championship and a T6th place at The Masters.
