Amateur Champion Joins LIV Golf-Backed Asian Tour Event

Amateur Champion joins LIV Golf-backed Asian Tour, expressing open-mindedness.

Jacob Skov Olesen made a big splash in July by becoming the first Danish player to win The Amateur. In August, he impressed again by finishing T5 at the Danish Golf Championship on the DP World Tour after making the cut at The Open in Royal Troon.

At 25, Olesen seems ready for a bright future in professional golf. He hasn’t turned pro yet but is eyeing a spot in the LIV Golf League through the Asian Tour’s International Series. This series offers a path to LIV Golf and is supported by the circuit.

This week, Olesen will compete in Thailand at the Black Mountain Championship, part of the Asian Tour’s fifth International Series event this season. Winning this series could earn him a LIV Golf contract next year, though he remains open to other opportunities too.

Olesen’s Ambitions and Opportunities:

Fans might think it’s exciting that Olesen has so many paths ahead of him! With his win at The Amateur, he’s guaranteed entry into next year’s International Series events. “I’m very open-minded,” he said about his future plans.

He’s also trying out for both DP World Q School and PGA Tour Q School. Having multiple options makes him feel optimistic about what’s coming next year.

The prize money in these tournaments is quite tempting—$2 million! Many players are considering joining because of this financial lure.

Olesen mentioned that others are also interested due to how well-organized these events are. “If you know that tournaments are run well,” he noted, “with good courses and destinations, people will want to play.”

The International Series began in 2022 with a $300 million investment from LIV Golf over ten years.

What do you think? Would you follow such an exciting journey?
