Spain’s Alejandro Del Rey claimed his first DP World Tour victory in spectacular fashion Sunday, shooting a flawless final round to win the 2025 Ras Al Khaimah Championship by four shots.
The 26-year-old finished at an impressive 22-under par, leaving England’s Marcus Armitage in second place.
Del Rey came out firing, making three birdies in his first five holes to build a commanding five-shot lead early in the round.
"It’s amazing because it’s basically what I work for," Del Rey said moments after sinking his final putt. "I just knew I could do it, but it wasn’t showing up until now."
What made his victory even more remarkable? He didn’t make a single bogey all weekend.
Armitage tried to mount a challenge, cutting the lead to three shots before the turn. But Del Rey’s chip-in birdie on the par-3 11th seemed to signal this was his day.
The Spaniard kept his foot on the gas, making back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13 to stretch his lead to six shots. Even with Armitage’s late push, including a birdie on the final hole, Del Rey never looked troubled.
"I’ve always felt I’m a great closer of golf tournaments," Del Rey said. "It just felt great today, felt very natural and very easy."
It’s been quite a journey for Del Rey, who admitted he struggled with motivation last year.
"I got to a point where I just wasn’t having that much fun because playing for 20th or 30th place wasn’t meaningful anymore," he explained. "I worked really hard since then because I didn’t want to be in that position much longer."
The victory came in his 70th DP World Tour start.
Behind Armitage, Spain’s David Puig took third place at 15-under, with Jason Scrivener finishing fourth at 14-under.
A group including Patrick Reed and Kiradech Aphibarnrat shared the top-10, finishing at 11-under par.
