Adrian Meronk decided not to pursue a PGA Tour card, opting instead for LIV Golf.
He had earned the card after finishing in the top 10 of the DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai rankings but chose not to play in any PGA Tour events. By January’s end, he was officially part of LIV Golf.
In an interview, Meronk shared that living in America didn’t appeal to him. He said it would have been lonely and miserable, echoing feelings expressed by Nicolas Colsaerts about his own experience on the PGA Tour.
Fans might think this decision is surprising since many players dream of being on the PGA Tour. Thomas Pieters and Robert MacIntyre also felt isolated when they played there, saying it wasn’t easy for Europeans.
Choosing LIV Golf:
Meronk found staying in Dubai more appealing than moving to the US. Joining LIV Golf meant fewer tournaments and less exhaustion from constant travel. “I was tired last year,” he explained, having played 27 times. The relaxed schedule brought him joy and life again.
After joining LIV Golf, Meronk became part of Martin Kaymer’s Cleeks GC team. He admitted that missing out on the 2023 Ryder Cup influenced his choice: “I would probably not have come to LIV if I had played in the Ryder Cup.”
Despite missing this chance, he’s hopeful for a spot in the 2025 match at Bethpage Black but hasn’t discussed it with Luke Donald yet. However, he believes playing well could earn him a place alongside other eager LIV players like Sergio and Rahm.
Currently, Meronk is one of four LIV golfers qualified for the DP World Tour Championship and will compete in upcoming playoffs starting with the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on November 7th.
