The Solheim Cup is getting bigger and better every year.
This time, 24 top players are heading to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia. Over 100,000 fans are expected to show up as Team Europe aims to keep the trophy for the fourth time in a row.
Last year, Finca Cortesin in Spain saw around 65,000 spectators, with 14% coming from the U.S. The event thrilled three-quarters of a million viewers on Sunday .
Sky Sports reported a record of 734,000 fans watching as Team Europe retained the trophy after a historic 14-14 tie. This year promises similar excitement, and for 2024, even more spectators are anticipated. Mickey Walker told BBC that the away team should brace for a “hostile” crowd.
Record-Breaking Attendance:
Inverness Club in Toledo hosted the highest-attended LPGA event in 2021 with 130,000 fans. Matt Chmura believes this could be “the biggest event in women’s golf history.” Fans think this will be an unforgettable experience.
Television coverage will remain extensive with NBC, Golf Channel, and Peacock broadcasting all week long.
If these predictions hold true, attendance might rival the record set in 2021. In Paris this year alone, about 240,000 attended the Olympic Games at Le Golf National daily! Plus, over 50,000 showed up at the AIG Women’s Open—the most since 2019.
What do you think? Will it break records again?
